TCEF’s initial connection to Jamyang Ling Model School (JLMS) in Zanskar, Ladakh, was many years ago through one of the TCEF service trips led by Project Manager Valerie Hellermann.
In 2023, another TCEF team, led by Jennifer Prugh, Roy Andes, and Karma Tensum, visited this school, spoke with the leadership, and identified real needs, including the need for bigger/better classrooms.
Initially, our interest was in building larger classrooms, but later plans for this school had to change. Due to an earthquake and dramatic climate changes, including heavy rainfall, the existing mud adobe walls and roofing of this school suffered much damage. There is an urgent need to repair broken walls and add new tin/metal roofing. The detailed plans are included in the attached PDF.
In 2026, TCEF will help Jamyang Ling Model School undertake all necessary repairs, install a new tin roof, and add two new classrooms.
