Celebrating the Success of our Students

In India, students in grade 12 have to sit for an important exams – the All India Senior Secondary Exams. These tests are conducted by the Central Board of School Education (CBSE). Every year about 3 million students take these tests. The results of these have important ramifications for their future. Because of the sheer volume of students, college admissions are very competitive and good grades in the class 12 exams are vital.

These exams started in March and then, like everything else, they got disrupted by Covid 19. So it has been a trying and frustrating time for the students concerned, but, somehow the exams were completed and recently the results were declared.

I’m thrilled to write that Tibetan students did amazingly well this year. A total of 1016 Tibetan students from 16 schools appeared in the exams, and, 998 of them passed! 91 students scored above an average of 90%, which is an all-time for Tibetan students in India!

Back at our smaller pond of Kyitsel-ling, we had three boys who sat for the exams and I’m again really happy to say that all of them have passed – and that too with great grades. Dorjee, Ritik, and Tenzin have all done amazingly well and we think all three of them are going to college.
