The Sambhota Tibetan Schools Society, Dharamsala is a registered society working under the Tibetan Department of Education (DOE) in Exile. TCEF’s association with Sambhota goes back to 2012 when Karma met Dr.Lobsang Sangay, Sikyong or the head of the Tibetan Government in Exile.
Knowing that the sponsorship of children’s education was one of our key programs, Dr. Lobsang Sangay advised TCEF to collaborate with Sambhota who runs many schools for the Tibetan DOE. Since then TCEF have been finding sponsors for Sambhota students.
Aside from the direct sponsorship of children’s education, we’ve collaborated with DOE and Sambhota on some important projects. The most recent is a collaboration for Sambhota students to write Essays in English on Tibetan related topics. In 2026, we will again be collaborating with Sambhota for our Seeds of Compassion Project.
In 2025 TCEF President Jennifer Prugh visited the Sambhota headquarters at Dharamsala, N India. We believe this visit further strengthens our collaboration with them.
Currently we sponsor about 40 students. In the years ahead, Sambhota will continue to be an important partner for TCEF as we try to fulfill our mission for Tibetan education in exile.
